Hey everyone,

Just wanted to say hi to everybody first of all. I am new to this whole thing and have been doing some reading about it and am under the impression that I am not using my dingoo to its fullest. I joined to kinda try to learn about new features, how to upgrade firmware (a concept that confuses me quite frankly) and run different things. From what I understand I can run a regular Game Boy emulator on my device as well? I have a ton of questions that I'm sure have already been answered, so sorry for not using the search feature :$ I tried and I wasn't getting anywhere. Maybe there's some kind of beginners thread someone can direct me to?

Thanks,

Danny

I've often thought this forum needs a pinned thread which brings together all the essential information for new users (and is regularly updated.) The Dingoo has a lot of potential but it is quite daunting for new users especially those that are less tech savvy. I'd like to see somewhere that brings together in one place;

Links to the latest firmware and emulators with detailed step by step instructions for installation etc

The most popular add-on apps/themes/custome firmwares with instructions.

A Dingux walk through.

The most general thing I'm trying to figure out how to do is increase the speed of the GBA emulation. I know on VBA on the computer it's fairly easy to make it faster which makes Pokemon games roughly 100 thousand times better to play... It's hard to go back to the dreadfully slow speed they naturally play at after being spoiled by my computer lol.

I've read a lot about this Dingux and still have virtually no idea what it is or how it will improve my system, but I'm planning on upgrading to it anyways on account of I haven't heard a single bad thing about it.

You can't increase the speed of the games. You can frameskip, but it will not allow to go over the normal FPS.

Yeah, playing pokemon TCG and pokemon alone seems kind of slow sometimes, but you'll just have to bear it. Atleast it's better than having a GBA.

Dingux is a Linux kernel for the Dingoo, and the most positive sides of it are the huge amounts of games made and ported on it, and you have more emulators, and the SNES emulation in addition to others speeds up drastically. Installing Dingux is well worth it IMO.

The best custom-firmware I have seen is Pof's, which can be found here: www.dingoo-digital.com/downloads/firmwares/pof-has-built-new-official-dingoo-firmware-and-released-something-which

It supports overlocking and custom themes, and requires no flash tool to put on. You just copie it on, turn it of, then turn it on again while holding down on the D-Pad.

About you GBA emulator, one way you can make the game run faster is to turn the frameskip of auto and onto the highest, which is usually 8 or 9. (Hold start+select, then go into micselanious settings or something, then frameskip).

Emulators and Ubuntu, together as one.
